Our Community Mission

Community Initiatives – Beginning February 2022

We are Heat and Herb, a local recreational cannabis retailer. We put a strong emphasis on fostering community initiatives by implementing much needed social support and community outreach programs.

Additionally, as well as the traditional forms of giving back, such as food drives, charitable donations, and warm lunches, we have implemented community initiatives to help with the underlying issues. 

Heat & Herb offer programs that support the building blocks in each community that we serve. Programs that improve the everyday lives of the community members.

We have brought together a team of certified professionals who have inspired, taught, and motivated us to increase our pursuit in community initiatives.

Heat & Herb invests back into the communities by providing programs such as, Group Counselling, Women’s Empowerment, and Yoga Practice.

Moreover, all of the programs are run by Registered Social Workers, Clinical Counsellors, Human Resources Specialists, and Licensed Practitioner Nurses. All are fully funded by Heat and Herb.

At the heart of our business is a knowledgeable team – we feel that a well-informed team creates an ideal environment for all members of the community to thrive.

Group counselling workshops are organized and lead by a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

The goals of these workshops are committed to creating and facilitating a genuine and non-judgmental group environment that are confidential, informative and collaborative.

Ultimately, at the core of this work is an understanding that we are all capable of creating new sustainable patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving.

Woman's Empowerment Program

This group creates a safe space for women to draw on their personal experience and reflect on their sources of strength and support. Furthermore, the program is beneficial for women looking to create a voice and empower themselves. Initially, there are 6 workshop series that are crucial for attendance in order to get the most out of the program. Essentially, each workshop focuses on a specific topic and begins with a quote, followed by an open discussion and skill building. At the end of the workshop, the facilitator will explain and encourage women to take home a skill that they will practice until the next session.

Yoga

All of our Yoga classes have qualified and registered Yoga instructors. The classes are appropriate for students of all levels looking to get physical exercise and practice mindfulness.

Kundalini Yoga

Firstly, an uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practice that incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and vibrational energy. The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness.

Hatha Yoga

Secondly, a series of physical postures and breathing exercises designed to strengthen, stretch and relax the body while providing tools to calm the mind

Vinyasa Flow

Finally, the term ‘vinyasa’ can be translated as “to place in a special way.” It refers to the linking of movements with breath and is somewhat more fast-paced than a Hatha class. Vinyasa classes incorporate fluidity and flowing movements while taking the body through a series of postures and breath work.
